Pastor Tim Barnes






Our Pastor of Worship, Tim Barnes, came to First Baptist Church of Covington in 2011. He is a graduate of Furman University. He is also a graduate of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY having earned a Master of Divinity/Church Music degree. He and his wife Robin have been married since 1988 and have three children.

Interesting facts: Other students with me at Furman University: Amy Grant (Recording artist: we went on one lunch date and wrote a song together); Mark Sanford (former governor of SC and hall mate); Keith Lockhart (Conductor of the Boston Pops and administered my Sop. Theory final exam)! Karen Parks (Fulbright Scholar, Opera/Recording artist, we sang in Choir together all four years of school); Tony Stevenson (Longest performing Tenor with The Metropolitan Opera, we performed Mendelssohn's Elijah together, along with other musical ventures!)

Along with another homeschooling family, in 2003 the Barnes' family journeyed westward on a 40 day camping reenactment of the Lewis & Clark trail, including 30 miles by canoe on the Missouri River!
